Lakers, Doncic reportedly played key role in Austin Reaves’ return

Luka Doncic wanted the guard to stay in Los Angeles, backing the decision to give him a four-year, $185 million contract.

Luka Doncic reportedly played an important role in the Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to bring Austin Reaves back this summer. According to Lakers insider Jovan Buha, the Slovenian star made it clear that he wanted to keep playing alongside his teammate, influencing the front office’s decision.

“Luka wanted Austin back. So if Luka wants Austin back, Austin’s gonna be back,” Buha said on his podcast. He added that Doncic likes Reaves and supported the move.

Reaves signed a four-year, $185 million contract in June. The two guards have already made an impact offensively, helping the Lakers get off to a 5-2 start this season.
