Jalen Duren has become one of the most intriguing names in NBA restricted free agency. According to The Athletic, the Detroit Pistons center had a productive meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday and is scheduled to speak with them again on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Lakers reportedly told Duren they view him as a maximum-salary level player.
The Sacramento Kings also met with the 22-year-old big man, expressing strong interest and continuing to explore possible sign-and-trade scenarios.
The situation remains complicated, however, as Detroit has been sending signals that it will either match incoming offer sheets or refuse to cooperate in sign-and-trades.
The Pistons are specifically not interested in a sign-and-trade with Sacramento involving Domantas Sabonis.
For the Lakers, after LeBron James informed the team he would not return, Duren would be a long-term frontcourt piece to pair with franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic.
