Lakers and DeMarcus Cousins have mutual interest on a new contract in offseason

Cousins was waived by Lakers to make room for the signing of Markieff Morris.

The Los Angeles Lakers and DeMarcus Cousins have mutual interest in signing a new contract this coming offseason, as reported by The Athletic’s Joe Vardon.

Cousins was waived by the Lakers over the weekend to create a roster spot for Markieff Morris. Former Warriors, Pelicans and Kings center has been rehabbing his torn ACL with the Lakers and will continue to do so. Cousins, however, cannot travel with the Lakers or sit on their bench any longer.
