Kyler Edwards chooses China over France, signs with Liaoning

Kyler Edwards

The former Dijon guard had drawn interest from ASVEL and Monaco after reviving his career in Israel

Kyler Edwards will not return to France after all. The American guard, who had recently emerged as a target for both ASVEL and AS Monaco, has decided to continue his career in China, signing with the Liaoning Flying Leopards.

Edwards had a disappointing spell with JDA Dijon in 2024, playing just eight league games before being released. After averaging 8.9 points per game while shooting 34.4% from the field, Edwards bounced back in Israel with Galil Gilboa.

The former Houston Cougars standout averaged 18.9 points, 4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game last season, finishing as the second-leading scorer in the Winner League and earning a spot on the league’s All-Star Five.

His performances also attracted interest from several EuroLeague teams, but Edwards ultimately opted for the lucrative opportunity with Liaoning. The Chinese club finished last season with a 23-19 record before being eliminated by Shandong in the opening round of the playoffs. Liaoning will now rely on Edwards’ scoring ability to return to the top of the league. He will also reunite with former NBA player Marquese Chriss.
