According to Stefan Bondy on X (Twitter), the New York Knicks are finalizing a deal to name Chris Jent as their new associate head coach, working under Mike Brown. Jent will be leaving his role on the Charlotte Hornets staff to take on the top assistant position in New York.

A former NBA player, Jent had a brief stint with the Knicks during the 1996–97 season (appearing in three games) and grew up in New Jersey.

Jent brings more than 18 years of NBA coaching experience, having served as an assistant with the Cavaliers, Kings, Hawks, Lakers, and most recently the Hornets in the 2024–25 season.

He was the interim head coach of the Orlando Magic in 2004–05 (record 5–13) and recently coached the Hornets’ Summer League team to a championship in Las Vegas this summer.
