New York Knicks owner James Dolan is continuing his long-standing criticism of the NBA, demanding greater financial transparency through a resolution set to be discussed at the upcoming Board of Governors meeting.
In a letter sent to the NBA and team owners, Dolan highlighted an 8% increase in the league’s operating budget and a staff expansion of over 800 employees. He is calling for a zero-based budgeting system to provide clearer oversight on operational costs, capital expenditures, and league-affiliated organizations like the Basketball Africa League, WNBA, and G League.
This latest move intensifies Dolan’s ongoing feud with the NBA, which has been fueled by disputes over the new media rights deal and the financial struggles of MSG Networks, which is facing potential bankruptcy.
