According to Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly ready to start talks to trade De’Aaron Fox, a 27-year-old point guard who has spent more than 7 seasons with the California team’s colors.
Fox’s contract expires in 2026 and he turned down a three-year extension at the maximum salary last summer, probably thinking about the possibility of a Super Max deal next summer (should he end up on one of the 3 All-NBA Teams).
The ESPN reporter adds that the former Kentucky man would have a specific destination in mind, a rumor also reported by Chris Haynes.
“Interested teams will likely be discouraged from trading for him being he’s set to become an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2026.”
It is unclear which team would be in Fox’s plans, although several reporters speculate the San Antonio Spurs, where the point guard would form a super duo with Victor Wembanyama.
Fox is producing 26.2 points, 5 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals in 37 minutes per game this year.
