According to Michael Scotto, the Sacramento Kings are planning to part ways with DeMar DeRozan using the “waive-and-stretch” provision.
The veteran forward is under contract for $27.5 million in the 2026/27 season, but only $10 million of that amount is guaranteed. By using the stretch provision, Sacramento could spread the remaining salary over three seasons, minimizing the financial impact.
DeRozan, who averaged 18.9 points and 4.1 assists per game last season, would become a free agent and is expected to draw interest from several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers.
