Khimki wants to get a permanent Euroleague license

The situation related to the Arena will have to be resolved first

Khimki General manager Pavel Astakhov has announced his desire to obtain a permanent Euroleague license, underlining the fact that the situation related to the Arena will have to be resolved first.
These are the words of the General manager:

“We have just knew that we will remain in the Euroleague for the next season, on this basis it is clear that we cannot reduce the team’s competitiveness. Now we have to understand if we can confirm our vision through the budget.

For us, the Mytishchi Arena has long become as a second home. We are supported by Khimki and Mytishchi fans. Of course, in the next season we will spend most of the matches there but at the same time, I will say that sooner or later we want to obtain a permanent Euroleague license, and this implies an area of at least 10 thousand seats, while in Mytishchi you can make a maximum of 7500 people. Therefore, we negotiated with the new VTB Arena, where the VTB United League “Match of the Stars” took place this season. And we also played the inaugural game of the Russian season against Zielona Gora there.

But there are some difficulties associated with the practice of the arena – in addition to the Dynamo Moscow hockey games, there are many concerts, shows, corporate events. And they cannot guarantee in advance the dates on which the Euroleague home games will take place. So far, we are considering the VTB Arena as a backup, “says Astakhov to Sport Express
