Khimki GM Astakhov thinks “it would be more logical to begin to prepare for next season”

Russian team general manager has spoken to Izvestia about resuming the Euroleague season.

In an interview with Izvestia, Khimki Moscow general manager Pavel Astakhov discussed the potential resumption of the EuroLeague season.

“Club would have a lot of expenses, an additional 5% to the annual salary of players, charters to the venue for the remaining games, as well as accommodation and meals for a delegation of about 30 people for a month. That’s a lot of money. And if the season resumes, the matches will be held without fans. And this isn’t fully professional basketball, given that we always play for our fans. We could produce a top result, but in quarantine players can’t get in good shape. What if suddenly one of the basketball players or coaches tests positive for the virus? They interrupt everything and send us home again? In my opinion, it would be more logical to record the results of this season and begin to prepare for the next”, he said.
