Keldon Johnson wins Sixth Man of the Year, becoming the second Spur ever to do it

The San Antonio Spurs forward captured the 2025-26 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award after a standout season off the bench

Keldon Johnson has won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award for the 2025-26 season. The announcement came on Wednesday and gives the Spurs another major individual honor just days after Victor Wembanyama was named Defensive Player of the Year.

According to NBA.com and ESPN, Johnson became just the second player in franchise history to win the award after Manu Ginobili. His production off the bench was historic, with 1,081 bench points, the most ever by a Spur in a single season and the second-highest total in the league.

Johnson received 63 first-place votes, finishing ahead of Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr. Reuters reported that he averaged 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds, while shooting 51.9% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range, appearing in all 82 regular-season games.

His season meant more than just numbers. Johnson embraced the role change made two years ago and turned himself into one of the emotional engines of the team, bringing energy, leadership and scoring punch every night. For the Spurs, this award confirms the value of a player who fully bought into winning basketball.
