Kawhi Leonard poured in a career-high 55 points as the LA Clippers defeated the Detroit Pistons 112-99 in Inglewood. Despite approaching the franchise scoring record, Leonard limited his fourth-quarter minutes to stay healthy.
Head coach Tyronn Lue confirmed Leonard was aware of the record chase, but the star opted for caution. The mark remains shared with teammate James Harden, who praised Leonard’s smooth and efficient offensive display after the game.
After battling knee, ankle, and foot issues in recent seasons, Leonard is finding rhythm again. Following a 41-point outing versus the Houston Rockets and a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, he joins Bob McAdoo as the only Clippers with 40-plus points in back-to-back home games.
