Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks remain far apart on extension after $200M offer

Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks remain far apart on an extension, with New York reportedly offering four years and $200 million

Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks remain far apart in contract extension talks. The big man is reportedly willing to take less than the maximum, but New York’s current offer has not convinced his representatives.

According to Chris Haynes, Towns is eligible for a four-year, $276 million maximum extension, while the Knicks have offered four years and $200 million. “Karl-Anthony Towns is willing to take less, but they’re nowhere close,” Haynes said.

Towns reportedly believes he has done everything he can to sacrifice for the team and hoped to resolve the situation quickly. At this stage, however, Haynes says it appears likely he will enter the regular season without a new extension.
