ASISA Joventut opened the preseason with a defeat against Monbus Obradoiro (77-96) in a game played in Gijón. Barcello’s three-pointers gave the Galicians the first lead, 7-11, but Boogie Ellis’ introduction turned the score around. With 8 almost consecutive points from the guard, La Penya moved ahead, 19-14. At the end of the first quarter, it was 28-24.
A 2+1 from Adrián Torres, who was very active, made it 33-24, the biggest lead up to that point. An 0-6 run forced Dani Miret to stop the game, 33-30, but Ellis once again extended the margin, 37-30. The Galicians took the lead thanks to their three-pointers, 39-43, and at halftime they led the game, 40-43.
Obradoiro started the second half more sharply, stretching their lead to nine points, 48-57. The green-and-black deficit increased to 50-63, and that was the margin around which the entire third quarter developed, clearly dominated by the Santiago side. At the end of the quarter, 58-70.
ASISA Joventut continued to struggle to find their game, and the gap grew increasingly larger, 60-77. From their biggest deficit, an 8-0 run cut the score to 68-77, but once again Obra pulled away on the scoreboard, 68-89. In the end, 77-96. Next Thursday, there will be another preseason game, this time in Sant Julià de Vilatorta against Kids & Us Manresa (20:30).
