Josh Nebo came much closer to rejoining Maccabi Tel Aviv than previously believed. According to Sport5, the former Maccabi center had already reached a preliminary agreement with Barcelona, but the uncertainty surrounding the Spanish club—the same issues that led Moses Wright to walk away before signing with Olimpia Milano—reopened the race for his signature.
Maccabi then entered advanced negotiations in an attempt to bring Nebo back to Israel. The club was prepared to pay the $900,000 buyout owed to Milano and offered the center around $2.2 million per season.
Nebo lowered his salary demands from $2.9 million to $2.7 million annually, but the financial gap remained. Meanwhile, Barcelona, determined not to miss out on another target, returned with an improved proposal matching the player’s expectations and finalized the signing. Maccabi is now left searching for two experienced EuroLeague centers after missing out on one of its top priorities.
