“I think LeBron maybe is racist, maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I only like people who like me.” Donald Trump shared his thoughts on one of basketball’s biggest debates: who is better, Michael Jordan or LeBron James?
The President of the United States did not hesitate when asked to choose between the two NBA legends, siding with the Chicago Bulls icon: “Michael Jordan is a friend of mine, I play golf with him. He’s a great person.”
Trump’s comments became more direct when the conversation turned to LeBron James. The four-time NBA champion, who has just announced his move to the Philadelphia 76ers in an attempt to chase a fifth championship ring, has often been openly critical of Trump.
The U.S. president referred to James’ political positions during the last two elections, with the NBA star publicly supporting Democratic candidates Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024, adding: “I think LeBron maybe is racist, maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I only like people who like me.”
Trump eventually ended the debate by making his preference clear: “Between him and Michael Jordan, I choose Michael Jordan.”
