Jordan Matthew Ford was born on May 26, 1998, in Citrus Heights, California. Before discovering basketball, Ford had an extraordinary passion for chess. His father taught him to play when he was four years old, and as a child he was considered the seventh-best chess player in the United States for his age group. However, basketball eventually became his true calling.
At Folsom High School, Ford established himself as one of the best young players in Northern California. Despite receiving college offers from Gonzaga, California, Oregon, and Oregon State, he chose the smaller Saint Mary’s College of California.
During his four years in college, Ford became one of the standout players in the West Coast Conference (WCC). As a junior, he averaged 21.1 points per game, led the Gaels to a surprising victory over Gonzaga in the WCC Tournament, and earned First Team All-WCC honors. In his senior season, he improved even further, averaging 21.9 points per game, and capped off his collegiate career with a memorable performance: in the 2020 WCC quarterfinals, he scored a career-high 42 points in a thrilling overtime game against Pepperdine.
After going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, Ford played for the Los Angeles Clippers’ G League affiliate following a brief stint with the Clippers themselves. The guard gained his first European experience in 2021 with Peristeri, a team in the Greek top division, before returning to the G League with the Agua Caliente Clippers for the 2021/22 season. For the 2022/23 season, the Californian joined the Stockton Kings before signing a two-way contract with the Sacramento Kings, during which he appeared in six NBA games. His return to Europe came in the summer of 2024: playing for Dolomiti Energia Trento in Italy’s Serie A, Ford showcased his talent at the highest continental level, averaging an impressive 16.4 points per game in the EuroCup. After a spell with Trapani Shark, where he averaged 13.2 points in the Basketball Champions League, the backcourt player moved to Bahçeşehir Koleji in the Turkish BSL and EuroCup at the beginning of 2026. There, Ford played alongside three former Albatrosses: İsmet Akpınar, Tyler Cavanaugh, and Trevion Williams.
