John Beilein, Cavaliers agree to part ways

Former Michigan coach will be replaced by J.B. Bickerstaff.

John Beilein is stepping down as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, as reported by ESPN and The Athletic. Both parts negotiated a settlement that will pay him a portion of the remaining money on his 19-20 deal, with the coach renouncing to the remaining part of his contract beyond this current season: Beilein left Michigan to become head coach of the Cavaliers on a five-year deal.

The Cavaliers will promote J.B. Bickerstaff to full-time head coach. Former Rockets and Grizzlies coach was initially hired as part of an eventual succession plan with Beilein.
