From Wednesday’s final whistle in Spain to a Saturday flight to Germany: Joel Soriano has officially joined Ratiopharm Ulm.
The 26-year-old, 6’11” (2.11m) center moves to the Bundesliga to provide an immediate boost to Ulm’s frontcourt. Known for his physical presence, rebounding tenacity, and efficient finishing, Soriano is expected to be an instant factor. Sporting Director Thorsten Leibenath emphasized his impact: “Joel will provide us with additional quality and depth at both ends of the floor. After LJ Figueroa, we are excited to welcome the next Dominican Republic international to Ulm.”
Born in New York but a key member of the Dominican national team, Soriano arrives after a stint with Casademont Zaragoza, where he played under former Ulm assistant coach Jesus Ramirez. In the ACB, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in limited minutes (14 mpg), showing flashes of high-level productivity.
The move is technically a transfer from Valencia, the club that held his rights and with whom he reached the Spanish League finals last season. Soriano is now ready to bring his “New York toughness” and international experience to Ulm’s rotation.
