Jean Montero has been named the 2025-26 EuroLeague Rising Star Trophy winner. In his first EuroLeague season, the Valencia Basket guard claimed the award and became the first player ever to win both the EuroLeague and EuroCup Rising Star honors during his career.
The award, voted on by EuroLeague head coaches and reserved for players who were under 22 on July 1 of the previous summer, reflects Montero’s outstanding impact this season. The Dominican guard was the top Rising Star-eligible player in scoring, assists and PIR, while helping Valencia return to the EuroLeague playoffs for the first time since 2011.
In the final voting, Saliou Niang of Virtus Bologna finished second, followed by Sergio De Larrea and Momo Faye. One of Montero’s signature performances came in Round 27, when he earned MVP honors with 29 points, 8 assists and a 38 PIR in an overtime road win against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
