Valencia Basket reportedly offered Jean Montero a $2 million contract extension, but the player is said to be close to a deal with Olympiacos.
The Dominican point guard is having a standout season with Valencia, finishing the EuroLeague regular season with 14.4 points, 4.7 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and a 17.8 efficiency rating in 23.3 minutes per game. Named the competition’s best young player and a member of the All-Star First Team, he was also named MVP of the playoffs.
In the Liga Endesa, Montero has averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 20.6 minutes so far, shooting 39.8% from three-point range and 86.8% from the free-throw line.
Despite Valencia’s significant offer, Olympiacos is now reportedly in a strong position to bring Montero to Piraeus and bolster its backcourt.
