Olympiacos is reportedly in advanced position to sign Jean Montero, one of Valencia’s standout players in EuroLeague this season.
According to Mozzart Sport, Valencia has offered Montero a new deal worth $2 million per season, but the competition is strong. Hapoel Tel Aviv has reportedly put a $3.5 million annual offer on the table.
Olympiacos’ proposal is said to be financially closer to Hapoel’s than Valencia’s, but Montero is currently leaning toward Piraeus. The Greek club already has an agreement with Codi Miller-McIntyre and wants to further strengthen its backcourt.
Montero averaged 14.4 points, 4.8 assists, 3 rebounds and 17.7 PIR in the EuroLeague regular season. In the playoff series against Panathinaikos, he raised his level to 18.6 points, 5.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 26.8 PIR.
