Jean Montero has arrived in Greece to begin his new adventure with Olympiacos. The Dominican guard discussed his feelings about joining the club, his expectations, working with head coach Giorgos Bartzokas, and his relationship with Cody Miller-McIntyre. Below are the statements reported by SDNA.
“First of all, I’m grateful. It was an incredible welcome and Olympiacos fans are amazing. Bartzokas was an important reason for my decision. He coaches at the highest level and plays the kind of basketball that I like. Olympiacos plays incredible basketball, so why not? I’m here to give my best and win titles, trying to be perfect at this sport.
For me, it’s a new challenge, a new team and a new contract. I like challenges and I’m just going to embrace it. I expect a lot of ups and downs, but I just don’t want to give up. I want to keep going, keep improving and give 100% of my abilities every time. You manage high expectations through work. You work every day and become better day by day. That’s how you build your confidence.
I don’t really feel pressure when I play basketball. I just focus on having fun, competing, and that’s it. I know Cody Miller-McIntyre from Baskonia. He was a very good guy when we played against each other. I knew the rumors that he was coming here too, so I sent him a message and said: ‘Bro, what’s up? Let’s do it!’. I’m very happy about it. There’s Fournier, Vezenkov, obviously Cody Miller-McIntyre and many other players”.
