Jayson Tatum talks about his dream of bringing the 18th title to the Celtics

Jayson Tatum, star player for the Boston Celtics, has made clear what truly matters to him

Jayson Tatum, star player for the Boston Celtics, has made clear what truly matters to him. It’s not his 30.1 points per game or his four All-Star selections. What matters is bringing the 18th world championship to Boston, a feat the Celtics haven’t achieved in 15 years.

“Real acknowledgment comes when people have high expectations of you,” says Tatum. “I want them to talk about me in the same way they do legends like Bill Russell and Larry Bird.”

At 25, and closing in on 10,000 career points, Tatum wants to be remembered as one of the greats. “All those great Celtics players have titles. I have to get to the top of the mountain to even be considered one of them,” Tatum concludes.
