On Wednesday, Jayson Tatum was back in a practice setting — but not on the basketball court. The Boston Celtics star attended the New England Patriots’ joint training camp session with the Washington Commanders, marking one of his first public outings since undergoing surgery in May to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered during Boston’s playoff loss to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Tatum was spotted walking without a boot or brace, an encouraging sign as he continues a rehab process expected to sideline him for most, if not all, of the upcoming NBA season. During his visit, he stayed mainly on the sidelines, chatting with Patriots players and Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.
In recent weeks, social media clips have shown Tatum working out in the Celtics’ weight room. In June, Boston’s president of basketball operations Brad Stevens confirmed the All-Star’s recovery was on track, but stressed there would be no rush to set a return date, prioritizing long-term health over a quick comeback.
