The 5-time All Star scored 22 points in 16 minutes against the reigning champs

Jaylen Brown made an immediate impact in his first outing with the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 22 points in a preseason win over the New York Knicks.

The former Boston Celtics star shot 8-of-13 from the field in just 16 minutes, earning his first ovation from the crowd at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

After the game, Brown briefly discussed the potential of his new teammate VJ Edgecombe and the Sixers’ intention to push the pace and attack in transition.

“VJ is going to be really, really good, and I’m excited to help him continue to grow, but his level of talent is really off the charts. I think we see the game in a similar way. We try to get to the spots we want to get to, and we have similar perspectives. So even when we talk to each other, we’re on the same page.”

On the high-tempo style Philadelphia is looking to play:

“I think that’s something we’re emphasizing, a way of playing that I think is advantageous for our group. We have a lot of guys with speed who can beat opponents off the dribble and create an advantage. We have to continue to encourage moving the ball up the floor and, once we get by our man, make the right play. That creates more space and makes us harder to guard.

“We have so many talented players. We want to make sure we keep the ball moving and play with a certain pace. Then, when the game slows down, if necessary in the fourth quarter, we’ll know what to do. But in the first three quarters, we should be going up and down the floor.”
