The Dallas Mavericks, off to a difficult 2–4 start to the regular season, are hoping to have Kyrie Irving back sooner than expected.
Coach Jason Kidd addressed the situation following the team’s loss to the Detroit Pistons.
“We just can’t wait to get Kai back at some point,” Kidd said. “Hopefully it’s in 2025 and not 2026. We’ll see what happens, but I think he and Flagg will form a perfect duo in the backcourt.”
Irving has been sidelined since early March due to a serious left knee injury.
Kidd also discussed the team’s recent offensive struggles:
“Offensively, we’ve often created great looks — in the paint, from three, everywhere. We just haven’t made them. When you create good shots, you’ve got to make some of them. Right now, we’re not doing that.”
