Following Fenerbahce’s defeat against Olympiacos in the EuroLeague semifinal, head coach Saras Jasikevicius didn’t just talk about what happened on the court.
In fact, he dedicated part of his interview to a group of Fenerbahce fans who, despite having regularly purchased tickets for the match, were unable to enter the OAKA arena. The Lithuanian coach described the situation as deeply saddening.
Here are his words on the matter, as reported by Backdoor Podcast:
“The only sad thing I feel is that many of our fans, who had bought tickets, were unable to get in. This is an extremely sad story for the EuroLeague. If people pay this amount of money, commit themselves, and then can’t enter the arena? It’s really sad and I feel sorry for the Fenerbahçe fans, because that’s exactly what we were talking about before the game, with many of them waiting for an email or something like that.
Last night at 11:00 PM, I was at a restaurant with many friends, and they didn’t have their tickets. So, people started asking me if I had any for them. This is certainly not a good look for the EuroLeague. I am very sorry.”
