Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul dropped to 1–3 after a heavy 93–69 defeat to Dubai Basketball, their third straight loss. Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius apologized for the performance but warned supporters not to blame the referees for the team’s struggles.
“Chanting EuroLeague Mafia when we are European champions is not right,” Jasikevicius said. “It wasn’t mafia when we were playing well.” The coach also defended Wade Baldwin, who received a technical foul late in the game.
Despite the poor start, Fenerbahce plans to open talks with Jasikevicius for a contract extension. The Turkish champions will face FC Bayern Munich on Thursday, hoping to bounce back.
