Fenerbahce began their EuroLeague season with a 78-68 home win over Virtus Bologna, securing the result after a competitive battle that was decided in the closing minutes. However, the final score did little to ease Sarunas Jasikevicius’ concerns.
Speaking after the game, the Lithuanian coach focused on the areas that Fenerbahce must improve, while also taking responsibility for some of the decisions he made during the contest.
“I think the most important thing at this point right now is to integrate the new guys and try to pick up some wins along the way. We were not at our best today. Not very good coaching by Fenerbahce also, I think. But we got the win, and like I said, starting with me first and the players, we need to learn from this.”
Jasikevicius also said. “This is where I think I got my tactics wrong, most likely, because when we went into the other defense, we managed to slow them down. So probably a lot of it falls on me. And like I said, switching defense was a lot better for us than the drop defense.”
