Jan Vesely has officially announced that he will retire from professional basketball at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The FC Barcelona big man will close one of the greatest careers in modern EuroLeague history.
Vesely shared an emotional message on Instagram: “After many unforgettable years, the time has come to close the chapter of my basketball journey.” He reflected on his years in Belgrade, Istanbul and Barcelona, filled with battles, victories, losses and lasting memories.
The 36-year-old will remain fully focused on the final part of the ACB season with Barcelona before stepping away from the court. “I gave everything I had to this game, and it gave me even more in return,” Vesely wrote, adding: “As of September, see you from the stands.”
A 2017 EuroLeague champion with Fenerbahce, 2018/19 EuroLeague MVP and three-time All-EuroLeague First Team selection, Vesely leaves as a legend: 414 EuroLeague games, all-time leader in two-point field goals made, fourth in PIR, sixth in scoring, third in rebounds and third in steals.
