James Harden is expected to opt out this summer and re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a team-friendly contract. According to Brian Windhorst, the move would help Cleveland get under the second apron.
A discounted deal for Harden would give the Cavaliers more salary-cap flexibility and allow the front office to pursue trades more aggressively during the offseason.
Harden’s return on a team-friendly number could therefore become a key part of Cleveland’s summer strategy after its playoff exit.
