Ja Morant had 18 points and 10 assists in the Memphis Grizzlies’ 114-106 loss to the Detroit Pistons, but his postgame comments revealed lingering friction within the team.
Asked about his relationship with the organization, Morant repeatedly deferred to the team’s earlier statement: “Y’all asked them that … you know the answer.” When questioned about his joy for the game, he replied bluntly: “No.”
The star guard had been suspended for one game following a confrontation with coach Tuomas Iisalo after Friday’s loss to the Lakers. His curt answers and demeanor Monday suggested tensions between player and franchise remain unresolved.
