Ja Morant battles through ankle injury to lead Grizzlies into playoffs

Despite a painful sprain, Morant scores 22 as Memphis secures the 8-seed against Dallas

Ja Morant played through a sprained right ankle, scoring 22 points with 9 assists and 7 rebounds as the Grizzlies topped Dallas 120-106 to clinch the West’s 8th seed.

Morant admitted receiving two pain-killing injections and said he was determined to be on the court. “I couldn’t feel it… so I was out there,” he said.

His highlight dunk electrified the arena, and coach Tuomas Iisalo praised his uniqueness: “There’s no one else on the planet like him.” Memphis now faces Oklahoma City in Round 1.
