Now it’s finally official: Paolo Galbiati is the new head coach of Baskonia. The Italian coach has signed a two-year contract with the Basque club, where he will make his EuroLeague debut as a head coach.
After announcing the separation from coach Pablo Laso, the deal with the former Dolomiti Energia Trentino coach has now been officially confirmed. Below is the official statement released by the Basque club.
Baskonia’s statement: *The Italian coach signs with the blaugrana club for the next two seasons.
Baskonia has reached an agreement with Paolo Galbiati (Milan, 1984) to become the new head coach of the first team until 2027. The Italian coach will take on the challenge of leading the blaugrana side in the 2025-2026 season.
Galbiati arrives from Aquila Basket Trento, a team with which he had an excellent 2024-2025 campaign, securing a well-deserved fourth place in the Italian Serie A. Over the course of his career, Paolo has been part of the coaching staff of several major clubs in the Lega and has gained international experience at the highest competitive level as a member of the Italian senior national team staff.
With vision, knowledge of the modern game, and a strong focus on the development and growth of the team, Galbiati lands in Vitoria-Gasteiz with the ambition to lead a new project at the Buesa Arena. On behalf of Saski Baskonia, we welcome Paolo Galbiati and wish him the very best of luck in this new chapter as a Baskonia man. Welcome, Paolo!”.
