At this rate, Luka Doncic is at risk of becoming one of those players for whom it’s difficult to find the right words to describe his exploits on the court.
The Slovenian ace scored 49 points with 11 rebounds and 8 assists in 35 minutes in the Lakers’ win over the Timberwolves, shooting 14-for-23 from the field and 16-for-19 from the free-throw line.
“We’ll see Minnesota two or three more times. It’s going to be a war every time we play them.”
Regarding the painful playoff elimination at the hands of the Timberwolves last season, Luka admitted:
“Last year was really tough for me. I just want to forget about last season. Just trying to move on. I don’t really think about that first-round series”.
Asked about his physical condition and how he feels with the Lakers, Doncic said:
“It’s a little bit easier for me, just moving around. Feeling better overall. More steadiness and just feeling better.”
“I think we have great chemistry. In the second game, we showed we can do it against Minnesota, which is an amazing team. That shows we can do it”
On his on-court decisions:
“I was attacking the paint in the first half. But when the second half started, we got the ball rolling around and the ball had energy. … Attack the paint, better things happen for my teammates. Sometimes they help, sometimes not. I just got to attack even more the paint and play from there”
Luka’s 92 points scored in the first two games set a new franchise record for the Lakers.
