Italian Serie A to have 18 teams for 2020-21 season

The league will include all 17 teams from the 2019-20 season plus one from the Serie A2

The Italian Serie A’s 2020-21 season will be composed of 18 teams, including the 17 clubs from the 2019-20 season plus one from the Serie A2 (second division), sources told Sportando.

There will be one relegation from the Serie A to the A2 at the end of the 2020-21 season.

The season is expected to start on August 30 with a “Supercup” tournament with all Serie A teams. The regular season expected to begin on September 27.

For the Supercup, the teams will be divided into six groups of three teams each. The best team of each group plus the two best 2nd-place teams will advance to the quarterfinals. The Final Four to end the competition. The tournament will run from August 20 through September 20.
