Speaking in a press conference, Italian Basketball Federation president Gianni Petrucci has lashed out at Euroleague for the reluctance of its teams to release players for the FIBA windows during the season.
“It’s unconceivable that Eurolegue can say ‘I give you players’. They’re conditioning the Olympics, and this happens only in basketball for Euroleague’s unbelievable arrogance. It’s not FIBA’s problem, I can understand the NBA doing it, but from Euroleague is unacceptable. Why players undergo surgery during the NT and not during the league? We’ve seen how it went in football with the Superleague, with the European Parliament involved. I hope someone can do something about it”, Petrucci said.
