The Indiana Pacers have ruled out Bennedict Mathurin ahead of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a sprained right big toe, adding to an already extensive injury list. Mathurin, who scored 26 points in 28 minutes during Saturday’s loss to Memphis, joins seven unavailable players on Indiana’s roster.
Coach Rick Carlisle declined to provide a return timetable for his leading scorer. The Pacers are also missing Tyrese Haliburton, T.J. McConnell, Andrew Nembhard, Johnny Furphy, Kam Jones, and Taelon Peter, who suffered a groin strain.
Indiana famously won in overtime last season in Minnesota despite multiple absences, but with their rotation decimated, repeating that feat will be a major challenge.
