The Charlotte Hornets will not attempt to replace LaMelo Ball with one player. As Kevin O’Connor detailed for Yahoo Sports, the franchise plans to distribute his offensive responsibilities among Coby White, Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel and a redesigned frontcourt.
White will provide rim pressure and pull-up shooting, while Miller must develop from a promising scorer into a dependable lead option. Knueppel, who led the NBA in made threes as a rookie, will receive more on-ball opportunities to expand his creation skills.
Naz Reid allows Charlotte to use five-shooter lineups and several frontcourt combinations with Moussa Diabaté, Ryan Kalkbrenner and rookie Hannes Steinbach. The long-term plan also includes No. 18 pick Christian Anderson, who can initially develop behind the team’s veteran guards.
