Heat reportedly discussed moves for Rudy Gay and PJ Tucker before trading for Trevor Ariza

Miami considered different moves before agreeing to trade with Thunder.

The Miami Heat pivoted to a trade for Trevor Ariza after they were unable to reach agreement on a deal for Rudy Gay or P.J. Tucker, as reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald

The San Antonio Spurs are seeking more for Gay than the Heat were willing to give up. Some within the Heat preferred trading for Gay over Ariza. Gay is on a $14.5 million expiring contract.
