Nigel Hayes-Davis explained why he chose to join Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, preferring the Greek club over his former team Fenerbahçe Beko and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
On choosing Panathinaikos:
“I talked it over with my family, friends, my agent, and myself. Everyone knows Fenerbahce was an option and what I did there over the last few years, especially what we accomplished as a team last season. It just felt like that chapter was closed and that I had given my all.”
On how he plans to contribute:
“As I always say, I will work hard and try to contribute both defensively and offensively. I spoke with the coach before stepping on the court and going through the plays, and he told me not to come here to fit in, but to just be Nigel, and that everything would be built around that. That was great encouragement.”
On forming a trio with Kendrick Nunn and Kostas Sloukas:
“It’s just about making things work. On paper, having all these MVPs on the team looks great, but the real goal and the fun come from making it work on the court. I’ll do my best, as they will, to build good chemistry as quickly as possible. Hopefully that will lead to winning games.”
