Hapoel Tel Aviv’s President Ofer Yannay defends his social media post, citing repeated hostile comments from Valencia coach Pedro Martínez and quoting Milan Kundera in his official statement.
We respectfully submit this response on behalf of Mr. Ofer Yannay, President of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv, regarding the above-referenced disciplinary proceeding:

Mr. Yannay’s post on the social media platform “X” was written in response to the ongoing and deeply concerning conduct of Mr. Pedro Martínez, head coach of Valencia Basket, who has repeatedly used his social media account to post political content expressing hostility, hatred, fake news, and incitement toward the State of Israel and its people. Such content, which has no place in the sporting community, has been consistently visible and widely recognized. These posts are included as Exhibit A to this response.
In this context, the words of Milan Kundera are fitting:
“The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.
And the struggle of man against totalitarianism is the struggle of laughter against seriousness”.
