Hapoel Be’er Sheva signs Brian Cameron to replace Amari Bailey

The 29-year-old American guard arrives from the Turkish second division after averaging 19.9 points and 5.2 assists last season. He will replace Amari Bailey, who is expected to miss several weeks with a hand injury.

Brian Cameron joins Hapoel Be’er Sheva/DIMONA

Hapoel “Altshuler Shaham” Be’er Sheva/DIMONA has announced the signing of American guard Brian Cameron. The 29-year-old, who stands 1.88 meters tall, becomes the sixth foreign player on head coach Doug Sprawley’s roster.

The club decided to make the move following Amari Bailey’s hand injury suffered during the Winner Cup game against Maccabi “Tappuzina” Rishon LeZion. Bailey is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

Cameron arrives from Turkey’s second division

Cameron, a Wesley Wolverines graduate, joins Be’er Sheva/DIMONA from Ankaragücü of the Turkish second division.

Last season, he averaged 19.9 points, 5.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 38.4% from three-point range.

Before his stint in Turkey, Cameron also played in the leagues of the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Finland.

“Cameron, who can play both guard positions, brings scoring ability, outside shooting and playmaking, and will join our roster in the coming days,” the club said in its official announcement.

The foreign-player group

Cameron joins the team’s foreign-player group alongside Lovel Cabill, Christian Coleman, Tyrique Smith, M.J. Walker and Amari Bailey.

The new guard could make his debut as early as Sunday, when Hapoel Be’er Sheva/DIMONA hosts Hapoel Tel Aviv in the opening round of the Winner League.
