Golden State will pay tribute to its legendary two-time head coach throughout the 2026-27 season

The Golden State Warriors will wear a Don Nelson memorial band on their jerseys during the 2026-27 season. The franchise announced the tribute, which was also reported by Marc Stein.

Nelson coached Golden State during two separate stints, from 1988 to 1995 and again from 2006 to 2010. The Hall of Famer spent a total of 11 seasons on the Warriors’ bench.

As Stein noted, the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings recently announced similar jersey tributes to fellow Hall of Fame coach Rick Adelman.
