Jimmy Butler underwent right knee surgery Monday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, an injury that ended his season with the Golden State Warriors. The procedure was performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum.
The Warriors said Butler will begin his rehabilitation program immediately, with an update on his progress expected early next season. Vice President of Player Health and Performance Rick Celebrini accompanied Butler for the operation.
Coach Steve Kerr said, “Everything went well and now the recovery begins.” Butler suffered the injury in the third quarter of a Jan. 19 win against his former team, the Miami Heat, after a collision with Davion Mitchell that resulted in a foul call.
