Porzingis is expected to meet the team in Los Angeles on Friday as Golden State cites medical due diligence amid POTS and left Achilles tendinitis

The Golden State Warriors expect Kristaps Porzingis to meet the team in Los Angeles on Friday night ahead of Saturday’s game against The Los Angeles Lakers. Coach Steve Kerr said he’s skeptical Porzingis will be medically cleared in time for that matchup, but expects him back in a key rotation role soon.

Kerr said the Warriors wouldn’t have made the deal if they didn’t believe Porzingis could be healthy and consistently available. Porzingis has played only 17 games this season due to the continuing impact of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and, most recently, left Achilles tendinitis.

Kerr added that lead medical decision-maker Rick Celebrini and the staff did their due diligence and green-lit the move, anticipating a return imminently. Stephen Curry echoed the point, saying he’s excited for a healthy Porzingis and highlighting the size, shooting, spacing and rim protection the Warriors have been looking for.
