La Laguna Tenerife has announced the two-year extension of Gio Shermadini, securing the Georgian center until the end of the 2026-27 season. Named to the ACB Second Team last season, Shermadini averaged 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 16.9 PIR, ranking third in efficiency and third in two-point field goal percentage (73.5%) in the ACB.
A two-time ACB MVP (2020-21, 2022-23), Gio holds the record for the most monthly MVPs in league history (11) and most weekly MVPs (24), solidifying his status as a Tenerife legend, where he is the all-time leader in PIR (3,959), rebounds (1,102), blocks (253), and second in total points (2,897).
“My family is happy on the island, and I want to keep helping the team win,” Shermadini shared, thanking the fans for their support and aiming for more victories in the coming season.
