Giannis Antetokounmpo: I wish I knew

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts on the game and areas where the team needs to improve

Following the Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-116 defeat to the Boston Celtics, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts on the game and areas where the team needs to improve.

Antetokounmpo, who recorded 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in the game, expressed his perspective on the challenges faced by the Bucks. “We just gotta be better,” Antetokounmpo said. “The Celtics want to shoot a lot of threes. They feel comfortable shooting threes and they play well when they do, then they can break your defense and drive the ball, get in the paint and then kick it out for another three.”

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the Celtics’ offensive strategy, Antetokounmpo emphasized the importance of effective defense. “We have to do a better job defending the three-point line, keeping players in front of us. Hopefully, next time we play against them, we can do that. Or next time we play against another team that wants to shoot a lot of threes, we can do that,” he added.

Additionally, Antetokounmpo shared his frustration with the team’s slow start, an issue that has plagued the Bucks in several games this season. “I wish I knew,” he said, reflecting on the team’s lack of initial energy. “If I knew the secret formula on how to always start the first quarter fully focused and making shots, I would do it every time because I have an obsessive personality, but I don’t know. Sometimes you start well, sometimes you don’t. It’s part of the game. Today, we didn’t start well.”
