Gianmarco Pozzecco Steps Down: “My Last Game With the National Team”

After Italy’s elimination from EuroBasket 2025, Gianmarco Pozzecco announced he is stepping down as head coach of the Italian national team. “This was my last game with the team. It’s my decision,” he said.

Pozzecco thanked president Giovanni Petrucci, GM Salvatore Trainotti, his staff, and players: “They’re more than brothers to me. Nobody will love these players more than I do.”

Calling the role “the most beautiful moment of my life,” Pozzecco added: “I don’t care about my career or opinions about me. I only care about the Italian players and the respect I have for them.”
